Then the Lord said to Noah, “Enter the ark, you and your household, for you alone I have seen to be righteous before me in this time. Genesis 7:1 (NIV)
One thousand five hundred years have passed after Cainreceived his laser flashing mark, People forgot God, continued sinning, and lived the way they wanted. Because of too much wickedness God decided to send a great flood to destroy the world except Noah and his family whom He found righteous.
Noah was the son of Lamech and the grandson of Methuselah, a descendant of Seth.
The Lord said to Noah, “Make an ark. It must be as big as seventy-five houses, much longer than a football field, and as tall as a three-story building” (Bible Stories to live by p.12.).He must construct the ark for a period of one hundred twenty yearswhile preaching. Noah invested all his wealth in the construction. He employed strong people like giants to cut and paste the timber.
A multitude came from everywhere just like a huge educational fieldtrip to see the boat building and listen to Noah’s preaching. Many at first believed the warning but later on they grew weary, and joined the scoffers. The scoffers laughed at Noah for building a large boat in a place where rain had never fallen.
The ark was finished as the Lord had directed. Suddenly mockers were stunned to see the animals from everywhere trooping towards the ark’s entrance. Two for each kind for unclean animals like pigs and seven pairs for clean animals like cows as God commanded.
Suddenly they heard noise of rushing wind. Eagles, the leaders of the same feathers appeared in the sky and flapped their wings to find shelter in the ark too.
Beasts and birds secured themselves in the ark. Which animals entered first we may never know but perhaps Mr. and Mrs. Turtle made it on time for the last trip.
And now the servant of God made his last solemn appeal at the door, for all people to repent and join him and his family for a quasi-quarantine inside the boat to save their lives from the deadly flood. But they, just laughed, remained outside, and continued their wickedness…
