And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food…she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat…Genesis 3: 6 (KJV)
Pedro sells apples in the market. He does not own the apples. He does not bring home the sales after selling all the apples. He just sells these beautiful, red, delicious apples for someone else.
While Pedro was selling the apples which were in the stall, a customer suddenly slipped and kicked the legs of the stall which made the apples roll down its place. Pedro, upon realizing what happened, picked up the rolled apples one by one then stopped to look at an apple which was really red, enticing to the eyes, and deliciously round that he took it and just as he was to put all the picked apples in the stall, the owner shouted, ‘Thief, thief!’, pointing at Pedro, then Pedro looked up and saw policemen coming to apprehend him.
As Pedro may have been falsely accused of, or may have been apprehended because of a single apple, we also should be careful of our appetite, as food is pleasing to the eyes, so is everything that appeals to the stomach.
All have fallen short of the glory of God and eating of ‘a single apple’ from the tree of knowledge of good and evil, in the Garden of Eden, is the first sin man has committed. Today, let us thank the Lord for the blessings we have and pray for strength tocontrol our sight, taste, and belly, and eat only what we can and what we should.
