Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, for many false prophets have gone out into the world. 1 John 4:1 (ESV)
Mr. For laughed so hard when his son told him that a rat was caught by the mousetrap. He said that it was the second time that same rat came back to eat the ‘daing’ (dried fish) bait inside the mousetrap. Then, his daughter, who was nearby heard the conversation and said, “hmmm… food…food… food bait.”
The first sin possibly committed…Appetite…the reason the rat got caught. This is the same as when a person swallows hook, line, and sinker the baits of the world. He is enticed by the smells from afar, sneaks to try it or taste it, then takes it, lives with it, forgetting that it could be an entrapment for being part of the world with all it could offer; not looking unto the One who made the world.
There are many ‘baits’ in this world; we have to assess whether they are from God or not of God. As the Bible text says, do not believe every spirit lurking around as there is always something to prove it as for His glory or a test to be part of the trap and not be free.
Today, let us pray that we will be able to test every spirit to determine the essentials of the Heavenly Kingdom and the accessories of the world.
